Royal Thai Restaurant – CLOSED SEPT 2016

Standard

Royal Thai Restaurant, 370 Oxford Street, Mount Hawthorn WA 6016, Phone 9444 1335.

Royal Gem … Royal Thai Restaurant has been around for a long time in Mount Hawthorn. Established in 1997 by owners David and Tuan Browne, the Restaurant has built up a loyal following of customers.

Authentic Thai Food

Tuan is the Chef and imports herbs and spices from South East Asia. This is to make the food taste even more authentic. Authentic Thai food from an authentic Thai chef. This gets better and better.

My absolute favourite is the Chu Chee Prawns. Blended coconut cream with red curry paste makes a lovely combination for this spicy curry. Alternatively, I would choose the Gang Keaw Waan or Green Chicken Curry. This is a sweet curry that includes eggplant and sliced chicken pieces in a beautiful fragrant sauce.

The Restaurant itself is a little worn around the edges but comfortable and there are separate rooms for privacy. The food is amazing. We usually have a cocktail at the Oxford Hotel opposite before we dine. But, saying that, Royal Thai Restaurant is fully licensed so you can enjoy a glass of wine or a beer with dinner.

Oh, and just my opinion, but the building should be Heritage Listed. It may be a little faded but it has good bones.

  1. Royal Thai Restaurant in Mount Hawthorn closed in September 2016.

The building has been sold and there is no news about Royal Thai reopening. This is sad as it was one of my favourite Thai restaurants in Perth.
