Undecided … Mia Cucina Café sits right on the waterfront (like Eva Marie Saint) of Hillarys Boat Harbour. During the day the views would be enviable, looking over the calm waters of the Harbour to the waves of Hillarys Beach.

But at night, there’s no real view, just a few lights from the Hillarys Harbour Resort across the water. Still, it was nice to smell the sea air.
So, the setting is nice, the staff are nice, let’s talk about the food.
The food had me wanting to eat somewhere else. This was a large family gathering and we were enjoying being spoilt by the staff. Xena and I decided to share a couple of plates of food. We ordered the Salt and Pepper Calamari entrée and a Gamberi (Prawn) Pizza.
The Calamari was so chewy that we left most of it. The squid tasted fine with the salt and pepper, it was the texture which let it down. We had spied their Wood Fired Pizza Oven and were expecting big things from our Prawn Pizza. Sadly, the crust was kind of floppy, had not been crisped to perfection by that outstanding looking oven. Shame. We ate it though, by that time we were hungry.
Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals. So, possibly, we just picked the wrong things. Even though both those wrong things are typical Italian food, ordered from a typical Italian Cucina.
