Upmarket Chinese … Fat Dragon in Mount Lawley is a retro inspired nod to the local Chinese Take Away they grew up with. They aim to make fresh food, with the emphasis on flavour.
This building used to house a beloved Italian Trattoria. I was so sad to see this place close that Fat Dragon was ignored by us for a while. But mourning over, we eventually went in to try their food.
The décor is all black and red and, yes, there are dragons. But, only little ones. The place has a nice atmosphere, if a little dark. But modern and streamlined with an obvious Asian theme.
The Manager, I presumed, was very friendly and seated us straight away. Left us with menus and came back with water for the table.
We selected Prawns with Ginger, Asian Greens with Oyster Sauce and Steamed Rice. This was plenty of food for Xena and I. Although the Manager did think we needed another dish but he didn’t push the issue. The food came in at around $45.00, with drinks on top of that. So it is a little pricey. Not your average take away prices. The plates of food weren’t particularly large but filling. And, full of flavour.
So, service = tick, food = tick, atmosphere = tick. It was nice but a little pricey for us. We would go back to try some of the other dishes that sounded amazing.
