Cheap and Tasty … When we were in the Broadway Shopping Centre the other day we noticed a small collection of Asian eateries and decided to go back and try one.
We opted for Hawker Food and realised quickly that the food was cheap, made with fresh ingredients and cooked in front of you. There were quite a few dishes we wanted to try, especially the Satay and the Chicken Rice. What a find.
Xena finally went with the Hae Mee (prawn noodle soup) and for me it was the Cantonese seafood soup. Both dishes were $10.00 each and were excellent value for money. The prawns were sweet and fresh, and the soups had two different types of noodles. Mine was in an eggy broth, always a winner, while Xena’s was all spicy hotness.
There is limited seating inside the Hawker Food cafe, so we chose to sit at an outside table. The Broadway Shopping Centre has an open area atrium with scattered tables and chairs for diners. So there’s protection from the sun and rain. These cafes are there solely because of the proximity to the University of Western Australia. Broadway Shopping Centre is just across the road from UWA, so the cafes are well patronised.
