Fabulous Alfresco … Looking for somewhere to watch the Melbourne Cup we headed off to the Rosemount Hotel in North Perth. Or, the Rosie, as the locals call it. We joined a crowd of people in the lounge bar to watch the race.
Afterwards we drifted outdoors to “The Backyard” to find some food. The Al Fresco is very inviting and has actual trees growing out of the patio floor, providing both shade and a lush touch of green. It was very pleasant, with a cool breeze flowing through the area.
Excellent Use of Empty Crates
We ordered food and drinks at the bar and decided to share a burger and fries. The staff were friendly and fun to deal with. The food arrived quickly and we were offered two plates and a knife to make the sharing easier. Good service.
Xena insisted we try the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger. The Burger came in a Brioche bun with loads of fresh salad, salsa and mayo dressings.
The fried chicken was two tenderloins, which was perfect for sharing. It also came with a side of chips. Loved that they presented everything on paper plates like we were in someone’s backyard. This is honest pub food with a little panache and the burger certainly hit the spot.
So, the glass of Prosecco we ordered to help celebrate the race was fab, light, fruity and bubbly. What more could you want. Will definitely be returning to try some menu items that caught my eye.
And, no, we didn’t pick a winner in the big Race but we did enjoy our time at the Rosemount Hotel.
History: The Rosemount Hotel is a heritage listed building, Circa 1902. It was built during the Gold boom in Western Australia. It has social and historical value. And, has been a continually licensed and operating Hotel since it’s opening. The Building is constructed in the Federation Filigree style of architecture.
