Sneaky Tonys – Prohibition Bar – Password Entry

Standard

Sneaky Tonys, Rum Bar, Somewhere in Chinatown, Western Australia, Phone Unavailable.

Prohibition Style Bar … From the man who gave us “La Cholita” and “Pleased To Meet You” comes Sneaky Tonys. A bar built in the tradition of Speakeasy Bars from the Prohibition Era.

Sneaky Tonys

The Bar Locked Up for the Day

True to form, Sneaky Tony’s specialises in Rum, just like the original Prohibition Bars.

Bar Staff appear to have been to Rum University because they seem to know exactly where each Brand comes from and which cocktail works best with it. And, there are some very interesting concoctions.

Of course, Sneaky Tonys can be found in a back laneway in Northbridge, no one really knows where but everybody gets there somehow. And, you need a password to get in. I’m serious, no password, no entry. (Pssst: Try their Facebook for clues).

Okay, I give in. The Bar has been around for a while now and you can find it just behind “Pleased To Meet You” in Roe Street. The laneway is a little sleezy and a little dirty but don’t be deterred, it’s worth a visit to this Bar.

The décor is pure Prohibition with candlelight and dimness as a focal decor point. Who knows who is lurking in that dark corner over there.

Sneaky Tony’s has even been named after a Rum Smuggler from the era, Tony The Hat. Love it and for me it’s fun and entertaining. Sneaky Tony’s has great atmosphere. We haven’t actually tried their food but we enjoyed a plate of nuts.
