The Woodfired Baker, Location Varies, Phone 0417 575 362.
Daily bread … The Woodfired Baker used to run their bakery from a shop / café in Maylands but the building was sold. Finding themselves homeless they soon moved into an alternative Bakery and are still producing their famous wood fired breads and pastries. Their bread is made by hand from locally sourced produce which makes it true Artisan Bread. Their motto is they are “A Bakery not a Factory”.
The Woodfired Baker can also be found at most of the food markets around town. Their sourdough bread can still be purchased in Maylands at Smoult’s Deli; in Mount Lawley at 2nd Ave IGA. And, at a range of stockists listed on their website.
I find their sourdough bread to be fabulous. Luckily for me it is available about 10 minutes away. The bread freezes well and tastes just as good toasted as fresh as it’s chewy and has a good crust sprinkled with either polenta or semolina. Rustic fare.
A lot of their bread goes to wholesale orders from Restaurants and Cafes.
As well as incredible organic breads they make great pastries. Think free range pork and organic apple sausage rolls. Definitely worth a visit to their Market Stall.
