Bricks and Mortar … Chicho Gelato, our favourite Italian Gelato Cart, now has its own Ice Cream Parlour, situated on William Street in Northbridge.
Swish, is a good way to describe the Store. There is eclectic seating and a large bar extending along two sides of the space. Really like that they’ve used the colours from the Logo for their colour palette.
Their menu is quite long and very interesting. If you’ve ever tried Chicho Gelato you would know that flavour combinations are the way they work. Using fresh seasonal produce to invent new varieties of their handmade gelato.
The new addition of a Chocolate Fountain is impressive, it’s a thin tapering tap that circulates the chocolate in a continuous flow. All the better for topping up those gelato cups and cones.
Love that they have one of their Carts on display in the Store. A reminder of their roots and an impressive Cart in its own right.
Chatting to Carly De Bartolo, one of the owners, made me ask the big question; “Whether the store was better than the cart?” Carly said it was a great step forward and something Chez and she had been looking forward to. All I can say is congratulations, it’s looking very impressive.
After some hard decision making, Xena opted for one scoop of Black Sesame and another of Green Tea with Caramelised White Chocolate.
This combination looked very pretty and was delicious. Being a mighty hot day meant we had to eat the Gelato quickly. Not complaining mind.
Wow, the Fig, Mascarpone and Balsamic Caramel Gelato stole the show. Delicious.
Update July 2017:
We went along to try their Little Matcha Girl collaboration, the Hojicha Green Tea Gelato with Candied Hazlenuts. And, Xena opted for the Spiced Pumpkin and Gingernut. Oh, and those flavours were amazing.
