Viet Hoa – Chinese Vietnamese Restaurant, 349 William Street, Northbridge Wa 6003, Phone 9328 2127.
Cuisine Indochine Francaise … Since the 17th Century France has had a big impact on Vietnamese Cuisine and Culture. Viet Hoa takes this a step further by introducing a Chinese influence as well.
Viet Hoa is a Vietnamese Chinese Restaurant and the fusion dishes they create go a little beyond the Francaise Fusion. Viet Hoa produce a fusion Pho but the French, Vietnamese and Chinese influences work together to create a really lush soup. As a dish, their version of Pho is fairly awesome.
So, it was a foregone conclusion that soup would be ordered on this visit.
Xena ordered the Mi Cari Ga (Chicken Curry Soup with Egg Noodles). A delicious, full bodied, curry broth with vegetables and al dente noodles. The chicken was boneless and braised in the broth with the skin on. Tender and juicy chicken. A great bowl of food.
For me it was the Pho Ga (Chicken Hofan soup with Rice Noodles) and I wasn’t disappointed. A light salty, delicious broth, with sliced chicken breast, so tender it melted in my mouth. The Rice Noodles were a change and added flavour and texture. The fresh herbs, sprouts, spring onions etc just made the dish perfect. It was topped off with a large Fresh Prawn Cracker, not those pink pseudo crackers but a proper one with real prawns. Xena was a fan and took ownership of it after allowing me a taste.
It is not easy to get Pho with Chicken in Perth, Pho with Beef is readily available. So, for us, this place was a great find.
Dining at Viet Hoa is not about the décor, the view or the service. It is all about the food, which is very good and reasonably priced.
