Déjà vu … Brika has opened a Hole in the Wall they’ve called Filos And Yiros. From this hatch they sell Greek Street Food like Spanakopita in Filo and Yiro sandwiches for lunch. The twist to their Yiros is the addition of hand-cut Chips.
So Déjà vu huh, this is the second time this week I’ve had chips presented as part of a meal. Not on the side but actually in the meal and the result was pretty special, both times.
We ordered a Chicken and a Vegetarian Yiro which came out in the house baked pillowy Pita Bread. The usual suspects were all present, Chicken (pulses for Xena), Salad, tomato, onion and tzatziki. And, a special sauce they’re not mentioning which was very special indeed.
Biting into this sandwich was a revelation. There was some excellent salt which gave a little crunch and a burst of flavour. The salads and sauces were an excellent combination with a little taste explosion here and there. And then the chips with their “Chip Butty” texture. Oh, so good. This sandwich was the real deal and very tasty. $11.00 for the Chicken, $10.00 for the Vegetarian Yiro.
Frankly, it’s going to be hard to not drive by everyday.
On the way out we spied the Baklava and picked up a couple to take away. These were enormous and filled with walnuts and honey. Very well made and absolutely delicious.
We sat on the terrace to eat and the atmosphere was just great.
