A Patchwork Quilt … Cecchi’s recently opened a Tapas Bar next door to their Restaurant. Cecchi’s Tapas Bar specialises in Cocktails, Antipasto and some small and large plates of Tapas.
The décor is amazing as they have put together a mishmash of recycled woods, copper piping and even an old tree trunk. Love what they’ve done with the place.
Xena was in need of cheering up Friday afternoon so off we went to make merry with food and drink.
Xena opted for a “Dark and Stormy” Cocktail with ginger, ginger beer, dark rum and lime with a splash of red bitters on top. It looked delish and I liked the rum and ginger flavours a lot. For me it was Prosecco and the fizz was San Martino.
A nice surprise was a complimentary small bowl of antipasto which we received because we ordered a drink between 3pm and 5pm.
So, the star was the freshly baked Panzanelle, an Italian chewy bread which tasted wonderful. Also included was Sicilian sausage, a small serving of dip and some very impressive polenta slices. All fine, all good.
Found this bread snippet: “In Firenze they are called coccoli, but in other parts of Tuscany they can be called panzanelle, panzerotti or ficattole, and sometimes they are described as pasta fritta”
On a previous solo visit I ordered three small tapas items at $3.00 each, two mushroom croquettes and one leek and onion bruschetta. Loved the creaminess of the mushroom and the crunch of the croquette coating.
So, the Bruschetta was something different and the delicious, drippy cheese made it special.
Love that this place offers affordable treats and kudos to the staff for some great service.
