Food Truck Rumble 2017, Perth Cultural Centre, Sunday 26th March 2017.

Hey Ho Let’s Go … Food Truck Rumble number four and counting. Going solo and very early was a good thing as crowd avoidance and plenty of seating made for a very pleasant experience.

Just a nod to Ai-Ling and her band of volunteers for another exceptional organisational feat. Was pleased to see loads of tables, plenty of seats and secluded areas to get away from it all.

And, then there were the trucks who showed up en masse, each with a signature “Rumble Special”. Some were new, some were old timers and others were simply weird. Just kidding.

Having decided exactly what I was going to eat led me to Ma La Margaret River Dumplings as the first stop. A brief hiccup with the Power meant a short wait but it was well worth it.

Eight free range Bang Bang Chicken dumplings topped with a peanut and sesame sauce. There was also a great cucumber salad and a small tub of Chilli Sauce. At $16 this was a lot of food and the accompaniments were brilliant.

Next was Food & Co for their Blue Manna Crab Cakes Tostada on a bed of slaw with avocado and beetroot jus stripes. Another vendor who put thought into the trimmings and made it a special dish.

The only downbeat was the mayo in the crab cakes which was a little rich but did not stop me eating all of it. Again, a lot of food for $14.

My final food stop was Kona Joe’s Health Shack for a Cocowhip topped with Raw Berry Sauce.

And a nice spot on the lawn laughing with some lads playing giant Jenga near the Library.
