Night Noodle Markets 2017, Elizabeth Quay, The Esplanade, Perth, 22 March to 2nd April.
Take Me To The River … Elizabeth Quay is the home for this year’s Night Noodle Markets. The Markets, with its surprising scarcity of Noodles, is running until 2nd April.
As usual there was a lot of food on offer, a wide variety of Bao buns, pork belly in various dishes, beef skewers and burgers. And, some very appealing looking vegetarian Gyoza at Donburi Station.

And, some interesting vendors from the Eastern States like Hoy Pinoy and Messina Gelato.
Miss Chow’s
So, on the food front our first dish was a plate of six chilli chicken wontons in a little pool of spicy chilli sauce.
Miss chow’s wontons were fried but not oily, were very crunchy and the chicken was lovely. Complimented with a sprinkling of herbs, chilli and spring onions for $15.00.
Our next stop was Messina Gelato, established in Darlinghurst in 2002. We’d heard big things about this vendor and had to try their “Pavin’ it Large”.
A sundae made up of lychee meringue, coconut and pandan sorbet, kaya (pandan custard), raspberry marshmallow and yuzu puree. $12.00.
We kept finding new flavours and textures all the way through and it was an absolute treat. The yuzu was so tart, the meringue so sweet and crunchy and that sorbet, wow!! Not to forget how creamy the kaya was or how chewy the marshmallows.
On the other side of the Markets was Black Star Pastry. With a striking watermelon cake made up of almond cake, rose cream, watermelon, strawberries and topped with rose petals.
Honestly, this cake looked too good to eat but eat it and savour it we did. $9.00.
Loved that Menu Log had a relaxation zone where you could order food to be delivered to your table. Technology.
So, there is something for everyone at Perth’s Night Noodle Markets.
