Soul Kitchen … Haven’t been so excited in a long while. Tarts Café has changed their menu again. And there are a lot of Italian dishes on offer, woot.
Just to note that the Pasta dishes sound fantastic. For example, handmade squid ink striped tortellini filled with prawns and scallops served with chilli, garlic, basil and white wine sauce. Sounds delish huh?
This menu item had me very tempted, the handmade Saffron Ravioli filled with mascarpone, bocconcini, gorgonzola, ricotta and parmesan served with Tarts own Napoletana sauce.
But what I actually ordered was the house made Gnocchi tossed in a Fontina (parmesan, spinach, cream basil) and Napoletana sauce. Oh my.
The Chef’s heart and soul well and truly worked it’s magic on this dish. The Fontina sauce was rich and lush but the spinach broke down the richness while the Napoletana sauce gave it a nice zing. Oh, and the drizzles of Balsamic reduction did not go unnoticed. Great combination.
The Gnocchi itself was so very soft that I could not stop eating. A nice touch to include a thick piece of crusty Italian bread to sop up those sauces. This was an exceptional plate of food.
So, the rear Al Fresco area is gorgeous and a great place to sit and ponder. A little urban Oasis.
Love the new menu.
