No Mafia / No Fuss … No Mafia is a Wine Bar with a small but perfectly formed food menu. Their inspiration comes from Southern Italian recipes but they decided to go against tradition and make their own rules.
Northbridge is such a hive of activity at the moment with loads of people about, even just after lunch mid week. Love it.
Needed something to eat and found a seat at No Mafia. And, being a big fan of blue cheese I ordered a small tapas plate of Zucchini, Chilli and Gorgonzola Fritters with Verde Aioli.
Also ordered a glass of Borgo Molino Prosecco from Treviso, Veneto. Lovely fizz and subtle fruit flavours and, it seems, anything from Treviso suits my palate. Delish.
But I digress, back to the food and those crunchy fritters. The first thing I noticed was the Besan or Chickpea flour. This gave the fritters a great texture, much like an Indian pakora. Well, a souped-up pakora I guess, with the Gorgonzola and Aioli.
Ordered a small plate of Bread In Common bread to sop up all that richness.
So, it was a very pleasant plate of food, very rich, crunchy and the flavours were all in place. But the Aioli proved to be a little too rich as after just a couple of fritters I was full. I point my finger at you, bread. Bonus doggy bag for Xena it seems.
