Little Guildford, 204 Swan Street, Guildford, Phone 9378 2223.
This Private Fascination … Guildford, the town, is fascinating and Little Guildford is a find! It’s an adorable building built entirely by the owners. Who then, tirelessly renovated the downstairs space into a Café.
Service appears to be top of the hospitality list at Little Guildford. It was so pleasant to be welcomed in, pampered, told to sit wherever and that my food choice was awesome. Which in fact it was.
The menu combines both typical brunch items and the occasional “oh that sounds amazing” items. It’s also an easy venue to dine solo in. And, for once, being put in a corner didn’t annoy me, in fact, I enjoyed the view of the terrace very much.
Eggs on Fire was my choice for this particular mealtime. Two soft poached eggs nestled on corn and jalapeno chilli potato cakes. Sounds good huh?
The Potato Cakes were thick and mashed with the skins on, adding extra flavour. Loved the grilled corn kernels, the fab fresh spinach and that Greek yoghurt. The flavours were all in place and the chillies plus seeded mustard meant a nice even heat. Fab.
So, a cold glass of impeccable Sittella Blanc De Blanc finished off the best meal this week.
