Worn Down By Caution … Meat Candy offer Liquor, Lunch and Dinner. They specialise in Fried Chicken and a range of Americanised sides like Mac & Cheese and Fries.
In the case of fried food I generally try to limit my intake but Meat Candy has a lure about it. It’s like Perth’s answer to the Pied Piper of Hamelin which sees crazed fried chicken fans zeroing in on the place. Myself included.
The venue has a lovely bar as the entrance and there are two other rooms plus the kitchen. It’s gorgeous really right down to the bathrooms, booths and light fittings.
There’s a limited range of wine by the glass plus beer, cider and cocktails. And, the prices are value for money.
Always a favourite with me is a lunch special and this I chose happily. A Fried Chicken Sandwich, Crinkle Cut Chips and a glass of Wine. Which was a very nice light and flirty white wine.
The sandwich had me at hello with the thickly cut white bread and the golden brown and crispy chicken fillet. A few bread and butter pickles (yum), cheese, lettuce, ranch and hot dressings.
And, oh wow, just wow, that tender chicken combined with the abundance of flavours was bliss.
But those chips can’t be ignored, glistening with salt and oil, and not to be faulted. Perfect eye candy.
