La Vida Urbana, Shop 1, 228 Carr Place, Leederville.
Too Much Is Never Enough … And it appears that expression is null and void. Because El Publico’s new sister venue La Vida Urbana has everything going for it, and, I mean everything.
I was very happy to get up early and head off to Urbana for breakfast.
And, the place looks amazing. With huge double wooden doors framing the entrance, ceilings at double height and the very large bar at its centre. It’s a very Grand venue.
The list of things I love about Urbana:-
- Exceptional Coffee at $4 an 8oz cup;
- Music that doesn’t intrude but makes you happy;
- Complimentary sparkling and still water;
- Scrummy food;
- Pricing offering value for money;
- Friendly, professional staff.
In fact, I would suggest that they have perfectly cloned El Publico and positioned it in Leederville.
It’s a great achievement, with the only difference being Urbana opens for breakfast and lunch. And, as of 29th September 2017, is open for Dinner as well. While El Publico is a night time bar and restaurant.
The menu has a mixture of Modern Australian Food and Mexican delicacies. Basically, something for everyone.
Had the best breakfast of Chilaquiles Rojos with queso, crema and huevos. Or, fried tortillas in tomato salsa with cheese, sour cream and eggs.
It seems we’re not the only ones who suffer from the day old bread dilemma. The recipe for this dish was created to stop the waste of the bread, erm tortillas.
So, the tortilla chips are cooked in the tomato salsa and topped off with the other ingredients. This is like nachos on steroids and a new favourite dish for me.
