Girl And The Sea … The Sea dominates Island Market Trigg. An incredibly long bench extends the length of the Café with seats facing that great greenish blue Sea. Just beautiful.
The venue is quite refreshing inside with it’s pastel colours and interesting textures. Someone with skill has put the place together and I really like their font and logo.
The space is quite hectic and staff were very busy while I was there. Just a couple of moments where I felt overlooked but the place hasn’t been open long, so no biggie.
I ordered a plate of empanadas and received two large pastries filled with roast pumpkin and lentils. A small dish of tomato relish with a dob of labne in the centre accompanied.
A little more filling and a bit more seasoning wouldn’t have gone astray with this dish. It just needed a bit of oomph.
Also ordered a plate of fire roasted red peppers, buffalo pecorino, oregano, Ortiz anchovies and sherry vinegar. I’d suggest there was some EVOO involved as well. And, I’ll go out on a limb and suggest that pecorino was actually mozzarella.
Now this plate of food was exceptional, every detail was just about perfect and such a great combination of flavours. Certainly a dish to remember.
Oh, and I did score a seat at that long bench and my ocean view was unencumbered. Such a glorious day with the bluest sky I’ve seen for a while.
