Pupusas … The lovely ladies who run the Rancho Latino Market Stall make the most delicious Pupusas. I always join the queue for a plateful. It’s also mesmerising to watch them being made because of the skill needed to create these treats.

Pupusas originate from El Salvador and are tortillas rolled with the filing is on the inside. They’re hard to find in Perth. The good news is that because they are made with maize flour they are completely gluten free.

Bean and Cheese Pupusa

Rancho Latino also make banana empanadas for those who enjoy their sweet treats. Love that their pastry is light and thin and the goes really well with the banana filling.

Can’t seem to try anything other than the bean and cheese Pupusa. The melted cheese goes perfectly with the soft, spicy beans.

For $10.00 you can purchase two pupusas  which come with curtido and salsa roja, i.e. a small container of slaw with house made chilli salsa.

You will find them at various Food Markets around Perth. But they are currently regulars at the Twilight Hawkers Market Friday Nights in the City during the season.
