Mixed feelings … The place has a nice atmosphere and the staff are great. We were greeted and seated, given menus, and there was help yourself water. The café is airy and a couple of hills away from Scarborough Beach. But there was salt in the air and that made for a nice atmosphere in itself.
Ordering food took place at the counter, which had a whole heap of delicious looking food in the display cabinet. Most of which wasn’t on the menu. So ordering had to be reconsidered at the last minute. I had been going to have a normal brunch of eggs but did a sharp U turn and ordered a Chicken Pie.
The Chicken Pie was really different, with feta cheese and mushrooms as well as the chicken breast pieces. Diferent but delicious, with crunchy pastry and a flavoursome sauce.
Sadly, the coffee didn’t have much actual coffee in it. It was dull and flavourless.
I ordered a raw dessert and it wasn’t the best, a little stale, a little hard to chew. And, was vastly different to the serving someone else at our table received. All in all I enjoyed the experience but things could improve.
