The place is buzzing … A bit late on the uptake, I feel like I am late to the party that everyone knew about but me.

Hylin - Cafe - West Leederville

Hylin, which opened in October 2014, is the latest on-trend cafe in West Leederville. And, the place is buzzing. When we arrived there were people waiting outside for a table sitting under trees on management provided chairs.

We were lucky enough to score a table for two straight away. It seems bigger tables are harder to come by.

The food menu is short. Some typical brunch items and some not so typical, like burgers and street tacos. And it all looked delicious.

We decided to share the street tacos, Cajun chicken breast, soft tortillas, mango salsa, toasted sesame seeds and coriander. At $14.50 this was a very large serving and value for money. The great flavours in the cajun chicken and salsa were refreshing, different and definitely moorish.

We also shared a bagel with chicken and avocado. This was possibly too much food. But we managed to finish it all.

The cappuccino was very good, a swirl of crema in the froth. And, the almost obligatory coffee art was in place.

Xena enjoyed her iced chocolate. It was a towering construction with icecream. There was chocolate dripping down the inside. It looked like an explosion in a chocolate factory. But in a good way.

The café itself is very modern. There are two fold back windows that bring the outside in. Clean lines and great furniture. The kitchen area is open. There is a great display cabinet of goodies at the front. The coffee smell that permeates the air is enticing. The first thing I ordered was a coffee while we looked at the menu.
