Value for money … The Prophet Lebanese Cafe is a cosy little place on the East Victoria Park Café Strip. With a couple of tables on the pavement outside fronting onto Albany Highway.

The interior was quite soothing, with subdued lighting and wooden floors. We were greeted with a friendly hello and seated quite quickly. Water and menus arrived a short time later. A very nice touch was a small plate of bread, pickles and labneh. Which we all appreciated, especially as it was gratis.

There were four of us and we decided to share entrees and mains. We ordered hummus and falafel. Which came with a splash of tahini, tomatoes and lettuce. It was impressive to look at and the hummus was spot on.

For mains we ordered, Fool Beans, Lentils and Rice, Bat-injan (eggplant) and vine leaves. We decided quite quickly we had ordered too much food. Even though it was all rather tasty and enjoyable. Was thinking that the waitstaff should have mentioned the food was a little excessive. But we were given doggy bags with our leftovers at the end of the meal. Which was a nice touch.

The ambience of the café was really nice. But there was a slight problem with the acoustics, as it was definitely hard to hear my dining companions. Other than that, a pleasant evening.
