Lush Surroundings … From the Crown Metropol Hotel atrium you enter Neil Perry’s famous Rockpool Bar and Grill. Walking through a long, fairly dark, tunnel of glass panels which are illuminated with candle like electric lights. Hidden behind the glass panels are the wine and beef cellars to entertain you on your way through to the restaurant.

Authentic Indonesian … Caught up with my old friend Michelle in Mandurah this week. Dining at a cafe called Warung Ade which offered authentic Indonesian food. The telltale umbrellas outside reminded me of Bali and the menu presented the opportunity to try something new.

Vibrant Victoria Park … Firstly, was very impressed with the night version of the Vic Park Café Strip. There was a definite hustle and bustle and lots of cafes and bars to choose from. Hence we were spoilt for choice on where to eat and drink.

Revisit … Heard rumours that Metrio and Co had been sold, so decided to make a return visit and see how things were looking. The café looks the same, the food in the display case looks the same, the service was as friendly as ever. So far, so good.

A Little Haven … Steeling myself against the icy winds on Old Perth Road, I sort haven in To The Woods Cafe. The first thing that struck me was the very strong and delightful smell of coffee. Not overpowering just welcoming. The second thing was how warm and cosy it was inside the Cafe.

A Grand Old Dame … Rushed up Old Perth Road to meet a friend for a drink at the Bassendean Hotel. But I had to pause and take a moment to appreciate the grandeur of this classic old hotel. Oh, and take a photo, of course.
