Belasyse Tapas Bar and Restaurant, Shop 4, Shafto Lane, Perth WA 6000, Phone 9481 2126.
Born to be Alive … In the CBD to investigate Shafto Lane and the variety of eateries there which we have virtually ignored to date. Alive and bustling the Lane certainly comes to life at night. Stumbled across a sign offering a special deal and in we went.
Belasyse is a Tapas Bar, Restaurant and Pizzeria. They are also a small bar. One of the first wave of bars which opened when liquor restrictions were down graded around the end of 2013. There are now small bars everywhere you go in Perth and it’s been a revelation, not just in drinks but food wise a huge boom to the Perth food scene.
Belasyse’s offer, this rainy Thursday night, was half price Pizza. Xena was pulling me into the venue before I could blink.
We sat outside and watched the passers by and the cafes around us fill up. We had a gas fire to keep us warm and some drinks to smooth out the edges.
The staff were great, pleased that we had such good service. We didn’t have to ask for anything really it was all sorted by the attention to detail we received.
Xena chose a Pizza Margherita to share. No surprises there people. Cooked with love and fresh Basil, the tomatoey sauce and mozzarella were great. The crust was chewy, not crunchy but there was a great after taste.
Xena had an Elderflower Cocktail and my glass of Fizz was a French Sparkling, Veuve Ambal from Burgundy, for $11.00. Both were excellent. Fab Wine List.
The Tapas menu looks pretty good, it’s a nice place to sit and enjoy some food. Kudos.
Shafto Lane is home to a large number of unique venues and bars. Belasyse is one of about 20 venues in this Lane which stretches from Hay to Wellington Street. A definite Bohemian charm and good food does tend to draw crowds.
