Adieu Giardini Cafe … And, hello Thai Spice on Oxford. Used to frequent Giardini Café quite a bit. In it’s heyday it was a vibrant place. Saying that, was very excited to see Thai Spice on Oxford arrive on the strip. Was even more excited when I found the Restaurant open for lunch on Saturday.

There was a lunch special, always a fan, $19.00 including a curry and rice plus a curry puff and a spring roll. Good value and a no brainer of a decision.

Was greeted, seated and given water straight away. Staff were friendly and efficient. With my food and drink order taken, I sat back to study the space.

Loved the look of all the white tablecloths. And, wow, the venue is huge, I’d forgotten. It is almost exactly the same as it used to be, minus the large fountain. There are still two separate spaces, a front and back section.

The large bar still has space for an elaborate coffee machine. The windows at the front fold back to let the outside in. Not sure about the TVs mounted on the walls but was dining alone so the entertainment was okay.

Oh, and the fireplace is still there. A nice touch.

Ordered a Chilli Garlic Chicken Basil Curry as part of the Lunch Special. Was so pleased with the look of the large plate of food put in front of me that I had yet another stupid grin on my face. It was a graceful plate of food. Everything looked perfect.

My glass of Victorian Prosecco was beautifully presented and the fizz in the fizz was abundant. It came topped with a strawberry and it seemed a shame to drink it but I managed somehow.

There was an awful lot of food to get through but it was so good that I ate through to the end. Yum.

This is an expensive Restaurant but the food, service and atmosphere are excellent. Well, they were while I was there.

Lunch was $29.00, including the fizz.
