A Different Perspective … Dined at Tablespoon or Tbsp. in April but didn’t delve into the Asian fusion side of the menu at all. The first visit had been to try the Kale Feta Scrambled eggs. This time Xena and I went along with our mind set on looking at Tbsp. from a different angle.
Actually, it was a comment on my blog that made me decide to revisit. They do an Asian Fried Chicken Burger with pickle brined Maryland style chicken (de-boned), Gochujang sauce and pickled cucumber on a Brioche bun. Oh, and shoestring fries. This dish had my name on it before I even knew it existed.
The burger was very large and had to be cut in two to eat it properly. The Chicken was juicy and tender, the sauce was a little spicy and the pickles rounded out the taste. This was a good burger served in a buttery Brioche bun. (Still not 100% on the Brioche trend, I think if you’re going to wreak havoc on your body you should at least have a wholemeal or sourdough roll. Just saying.).
Xena went for the Chicken Congee with pulled chicken, a slow cooked egg and chicken crackling. Another enormous dish with an exceptional broth and so many flavours. The rice porridge was al dente and creamy. I had a small portion, as this is one of my favourites, and the broth was the star, definitely.
They are serious about coffee at Tbsp. and Xena’s Matcha Latte was pretty special.
We couldn’t finish our meals, which leaves me again wanting to ask if they will do half serves. Or, maybe small and large plates of food. Just a thought not a criticism.
