Jazz, Thai Fusion and Retro Styling … What a welcome change for Brunch this Thai Restaurant is. The menu is a mixture of standard Modern Australian Food and Asian Fusion Breakfast Dishes. It made choosing extremely difficult.
The space has three rooms. A formal dining room with white tablecloths and two smaller casual dining areas for Brunch.
It seems though that the Brunch may soon be off the menu as it hasn’t been as popular as they’d hoped. It would be a good idea to get down to Nunam before the end of September if you’d like to try the Brunch dishes.
The Restaurant will remain open for Lunch and Dinner with their Thai food on offer.
We were really excited about the décor. Retro fittings with the light shades, the bar itself, two bench seats in the café section and the chairs and stools around the place. Top that off with the laid back jazz music and the place was cool with a capital C.
Even liked the fact that they’d scraped the wallpaper off most of the wall but left bits and pieces and just kind of polished over it. Impressive looking. Someone with a good eye put this together and it’s refreshing to see something a bit different.
So, the food.
Xena opted for the Black Sticky Rice with Fresh Fruits, Candied Cashew Nuts, Ginger Syrup and Roasted Coconut. When it was put on the table we both smiled, it looked amazing. Was permitted to try a spoonful and it was amazing. The flavour mixture was very suited to my palate.
My Son In Law Eggs looked pretty good too. Caramelised Deep Fried Eggs, Seared Scallops, Crispy Coconut Rice Cake, Charred Watermelon and Fried Shallots. But it was the sauce that pulled the dish together, sweet, salty, caramelly, with fresh chillis. Wow. What a dish. Exceptional.
We hope to visit before they shut the brunch down. It would be a shame not to sample those dishes again.
