Seek The Unique … California Pizza Kitchen, or CPK, opened in September at the Hillarys Boat Harbour complex. It fills the space formerly occupied for 23 years by Jetty’s Restaurant.
CPK sits on the Boardwalk with views over the water. And, it was very pleasant relaxing, watching people swimming and the boats coming and going.
Billed primarily as a Pizza and Pasta Restaurant we were a little bewildered by the Menu at first. Lots of fusion starters and shared plates and then the connection to their “Seek The Unique” motto finally dawned on me.
Xena chose the Kung Pao Spaghetti, a fusion dish with red hot chillies, garlic, peanuts and spring onions paired with Italian pasta.
Actually, we both loved the Kung Pao albeit it was a little weird but tasted great and presented well.
I chose two share plates and made the mistake of over ordering but Xena was up for the challenge of helping to clear the plates.
Share plate one: Three spring rolls cut up into three pieces each. Mediterranean Vegetables with Marinara Sauce, Thai Chicken with Peanut Sauce and Baja Chicken with Guacamole. All wrapped in Tortillas and baked in a wood fired oven.
The spring rolls were all nice but our favourite was the Baja Chicken with black beans, cheddar, green paprika, red onions and coriander with the Guac.
Share plate two: Spicy Chicken Tinga Quesadillas which again were in Tortillas but stone baked and soft. So, they tasted just fine but were pretty similar to one of the Spring Rolls.
So, our bill was $50.00 including drinks. There were teething problems with the wait for a table, drinks and food being quite lengthy. A visit in a few months to try the Pizza is on the cards.
Oh, and they had run out of Prosecco, a tragedy in itself.
