Good Food And Wine Show Perth 2017, 14th to 16th July 2017, Perth Exhibition Centre, 21 Mounts Bay Road, Perth, Phone 9338 0300.
Seas Of Cheese … It’s that time of year again and The Good Food and Wine Show 2017 did not disappoint. The highlight for us this year was some pizza tossing bravados.
First up 400 Gradi from Melbourne Crown. Two of their finest were manipulating pizza dough and it was a fine display. As we walked past the gigantic wood fired pizza oven we decided to join the queue for a Margherita at $12.00. This three minute pizza was outstanding and delicious.
The Vendors were a little more upmarket this year, including Perth’s New York Deli Rockefellers, El Gringos Taqueria, The Sentinal and Shak Shuka.
Could not walk past The Smelly Cheese Shop without tasting this year’s offerings. And, we were offered a very fine selection to try.
Our favourite turned out to be a cheddar with a back taste of Parmesan which was very different and very moorish.
Oh, and a small sample of their Raclette was offered on a piece of bread.
Amazingly decadent but not to be abused drippy gooey Raclette cheese. Yum.
The stall of one of our favourite Bagel makers Sweet Dream Foods was packed. We decided to try again later but each time we returned there was no room at the Inn.
Xena got chatting with the chap at Verano Ciders and taste tested a few of the six flavours. Xena loved the taste so much she purchased a case of six bottles.
So, Verano is a Spanish Cider Company from the Basque region of Spain. The Soroa Family have been making this Cider for five generations and that’s every summer since 1918.
We taste tested the Cello Company’s Limoncello. Such a clever branding idea and I loved the Cello logo. Oh, and the liqueur itself was fabulous.
Cha Cha Tea came next with a wide variety of blended Iced Teas. The Twist is they sell them in concentrate form, 2 bottles for $39.99 which make up to 20 serves of Iced Tea. All made with fresh ingredients and no added sugar. Xena’s favourite.
Pana Chocolate offer Raw, Organic, Hand Made, Low Gi, No Gluten, No Dairy, No Sugar Chocolate. Simply beautiful.
So, our journey included traipsing the stalls and sampling Wine, Cider, iced Tea and Cheese and then more Cheese. And, we left looking forward to next year’s show.
