These Foolish Things … Billie H is a Supper Club / Wine Bar in Claremont. The name is a nod to famed singer Ms Billie Holiday but oddly enough the venue isn’t a Jazz Bar.
Saying that, music does appear to play a big part in the atmosphere of the place. While I was there staff were definitely getting into the mood and you can’t take that away from them I guess.
A sweeter rose, a softer sky were her lyrics but there were tulips on every table, another small tribute to Lady Day.
But, I digress, lets talk food. Wanted something healthy and vegetarian and Billie H’s Roast Vegetable Salad was like a tinkling piano in the next apartment.
The dish presented well and the vegetables were hidden under a mound of Red Chard Leaves, a variety of seeds and some roasted nuts.
Beetroot, Turnip and Parsnip pieces were doused with Beetroot dressing. Lovely flavours from the root vegetables and enhanced by the sweetness of the beetroot.
A good salad should have texture and this one had a wide variety. Loved it, the dish suited me to a tee.
