It’s Got To Be Worth It, Yeah … Frisch & Barc offer up some interesting brunch meals and serious coffee. Situated in Como on Canning Highway, it’s a bustling little place.
Although my coffee was expertly engineered, and the froth was near perfect, it lacked a strong flavour.
Deciding to move out of my comfort zone I ordered the smoked Cod and Baked egg meal. The dish was described as “sitting on a bed of creamy leek and cauliflower, with parsley citrus and breadcrumbs”.
So, the dish presented well but I soon discovered that the rest of the ingredients seemed to be sitting in a thin, milky, flavourless broth.
The term, don’t judge a book by it’s cover, sprang to mind immediately, so I persevered.
I tried both vegetables and they were well cooked but the whole dish needed more flavour.
Further down there was lots of fish but it was a little chewy and the egg was pretty well raw. Which made me suspect the egg had been cooked sous vide style and not baked as per the menu description.
Such a shame.
