Chapels On Whatley, 196 Whatley Crescent, Maylands, Phone 9272 7738.
The Magic Garden … Chapels on Whatley sits in the midst of a Tardis like terrace garden. And, it’s exquisite, with a Koi pond, brightly coloured parasols and authentic Chinese furniture.
To be honest I could have spent a couple of hours just sitting inhaling the atmosphere. The attention to detail and the space itself is absolutely beautiful.
Ordered a Short Macchiato and it was delicious. The art had kind of faded away but as long as I get that strong coffee experience I’m happy.
So, on to the food, the chicken Satay plate stood out for me as I’m always a big fan. And, the presentation which was a knock out.
Two gigantic BBQ’d chicken sticks smothered in peanut sauce, with a mixture of crispy potato, tofu and a small selection of pickled vegetables.
Wow, those pickles, just lovely, and the surprise of finding pineapple in the mix.
Just a little more love with the spinach would have been nice as it just sat there looking forlorn and needing a little flavour boost.
Funnily enough, the rice was pretty great with the scallions and fresh chilli.
So, way too much food for just me but I know Xena and I could have shared a plate of this size.
Oh, and I’ll be back to try those Pandan Lamingtons.
