La Veen Coffee & Kitchen, 88 – 90 King Street #1, Perth, Phone 9321 1188.
Whatever Happened To Class … Not sure but it’s alive and well and still in existence at La Veen. Tucked away in King Street in a Heritage Listed Building this Café has a lot going for it.
The first thing you notice on entering is the 6 group, 2nd generation Synesso Hydra espresso machine. It’s ginormous, sleek and very chic with it’s Bubinga wooden handles.
With that in mind I noticed they had a tasting flight, or “Barista Starter” on offer. This was so exciting to me, a place that takes it’s coffee seriously and offering a taste of four different coffees for $10. Sold.
Cannot remember exactly which beans were used but I received a glass of sparkling water to cleanse the palate and four coffees. An espresso, a mini cappuccino, a mini long black and a large cold brew which was my absolute favourite.
So, to accompany that selection of Java I chose a Brioche Bagel with real strawberries, strawberry cream cheese and pistachios. A very large bagel which was exceptionally pretty.
My bagel was pure comfort food and there were some pretty great flavours going on as well. Very, very pleasant.
So, the building is aesthetically pleasing with it’s wooden floors, large floor to ceiling windows, very high ceilings. And, that large coffee station pumping out the aromas, oh my.
