To Be A Rock And Not To Roll … Robert Plant’s lyrics still confuse people 47 years on. But buying a stairway to heaven is possible in Osaka Japan at The Hard Rock Café.
And, yes, I was talking about the food because it was actually pretty amazing.
Have been to a few Hard Rock Cafes in my time but this one stands out for me. Possibly because I enjoyed visiting Japan immensely. The people, the food and the culture were all very appealing. Oh, and the Sapporo beer.
The waitperson told us we could probably share any of the mains as they were quite large. So, that’s what we did and ordered one plate of twisted macaroni cheese with grilled chicken. Oh, and real sourdough bread to die for.
Such a great plate of food, the chicken was tender, juicy and fragrant but I would suggest the Mac N Cheese stole the limelight a bit.
The cheesy sauce on the pasta was delicate but so good combined with the herbs and fresh parmesan. Not just ordinary pasta either as it’s been a long time since I’ve seen curly macaroni like this. Al dente, with a near perfect chew.
Just to be clear there is a Universal Studio theme park in Osaka and on the outskirts are a bunch of restaurants like Wolfgang Puck. The outer area is called the Universal Citywalk.
After I left Japan Xena and Rachel went to the park and their photos were so good it made me want to return, immediately. But I did get to see Hogwarts in the distance and that was enough for me. For the moment.
