More Rolls than a Pastry Truck … Baker Et Chef or Baker and Chef opened quietly on the Eastern end of Mill Point Road. It is a formidable looking building with grey overtones but the age of the premises add to the overall charm and feel.
The courtyard is green and leafy with plenty of shade and chairs for extending your stay.
The coffee aromas were wonderful but I’d already had my caffeine fix for the day. So, I sat staring at the dazzling array of patisserie items for sale.
Loads of fabulous looking French breads, croissants, cakes and pastries. I couldn’t stop checking out exactly what was on offer.
Eventually I purchased a Mandarin and Pistachio croissant which was decadent, bitter and absolute soul food. The quality of the pastry was superb, light, fluffy and tantalising.
I noticed that the brunch items were small which is just the way I like it actually. It just means you can eat a pastry and brunch without feeling like bursting.
Will definitely return to try the smashed avocado with egg, as it had my name on it. Good value at $16.00.
So, I returned this rainy Sunday morning to try breakfast. Needless to say, the food was incredible and edible and just delicious. And, that sourdough bread, wowsa.
