You Are My Sunshine … Crab Cakes all the way from Shark Bay. Cantina 663 had two visits from me today, once for coffee and cake and a short while later for brunch. What can I say, I was hungry.
Johnny Cash sings “You make me happy when skies are blue” and the skies are definitely blue today on this glorious sunshiny day.
Just a quick note to point out the industrious wait staff and their ability to carry five cups of hot coffee at one time. I was enthralled by the activity going on around me, it was not intrusive but definitely entertaining.
Perhaps there is a secret Company who only employs wait staff who pass the 5 coffee test. Either way, it is impressive.
So, early morning Macchiato was on the cards to wake me up and it was smooth, sleek and strong. Not much more needed, except maybe a chocolate chip cookie which just made me hungrier.
So, back to those crab cakes which were adorned with fennel, buckwheat and citrus mayonnaise. There was a lot going on on the plate and my first taste of crab cake was a little bland and I assembled a forkful of everything. Now there was a taste sensation. Found the fennel a little chewy but the rest was just fine, a little rich but just fine.
