Platinum Anniversary … Congratulations Alfred’s Kitchen on turning 70 years old. This Burger Bar sits right on the railway line in Guildford. In the old days customers would crowd around the open fire to eat their burgers or to slurp their house made Pea and Ham Soup. But things have changed a little since then.

Vietnamese Tuckshop … Three Sisters has been open three days. It was a surprise to see the café sitting on Oxford Street, opposite Pappagallo. I veered across the Road to take a closer look and decided to stay a while and try the food.

Stationary Dog … Street vendor Wassup Dog has a new Café in East Perth. Spotted them a couple of months ago now and decided it was time to stage a visit. They still have their travelling Carts, so look out for them at Food Markets.

Simple Italian Fare … New lunch spot on Beaufort. Panini 854 make their Panini in house. They have baskets full of this chewy bread on display behind the counter. And, the menu on the wall lists a fair few varieties of fillings they will put together.

Roving Noodles … Was very happy to see Noodle Forum in their new Market Stall at the Inglewood on Beaufort Night Markets. Noodle Forum has been on my favourite list for quite a while. It’s the hand made noodles that win me over, every time. Oh, and, Chef Wong’s luscious Laksa.

Cuisine Indochine Francaise … Since the 17th Century France has had a big impact on Vietnamese Cuisine and Culture. Viet Hoa takes this a step further by introducing a Chinese influence as well.

New York Pizza … No sooner had Ace Pizza closed it’s doors than Mack Daddy’s opened theirs on Beaufort. They kept this one quiet. I only stumbled across this New York style Pizza Restaurant because it sits right next to Clarences.

Flamboyant Confidence … The meaning of the word Panache. And, I would suggest Panache Café has that in spades. They are the first café I’ve walked into that has smashed avocado, with a poached egg on top, in the display case for $8.50. Outstanding.

It’s De-Lovely … Ah, imagine fresh pasta, cooked in front of you and tossed in a lush looking sauce. And, imagine that it came with fresh bread and parmesan at the total cost of $13.00. Sounds like a bargain huh. We think so too.

The Spice Exists on Only One Planet in the Universe … Phew, lucky we don’t live in that Universe. Dune quotes aside, spice is life for me. And, Laksa fulfils that need you sometimes get for a really big spicy soup. Laksa originated in Penang, the broth’s main ingredients are the pod like fruit tamarind and coconut.
