Posh Nosh … It’s All About That Food. Tiisch in the CBD has only been open a few months. It’s a delightful Café on Milligan Street, and close to Cloisters Square, with lots of greenery and crisp pastel colours. Their signature pale Blue is on everything.

Déjà vu … Brika has opened a Hole in the Wall they’ve called Filos And Yiros. From this hatch they sell Greek Street Food like Spanakopita in Filo and Yiro sandwiches for lunch. The twist to their Yiros is the addition of hand-cut Chips.

Tuck Shop Lunch … Long Chim and Chef David Thompson burst onto the scene late last year. And, the awards started rolling in shortly afterwards. The focus of the Restaurant is Thai Street Food. Long Chim means “to come sample and taste”. And, after finding out that they had opened a Tuck Shop offering lunch specials, I made my way to the City.

Down on the Corner … Out in the Street. Pinchos has expanded into the building next door and the venue now has a presence on Oxford Street. Some of that has to do with the large Pan of Paella cooking on the pavement. But mostly it’s because the space is now right on the Corner.

Thieves Like Us … It was a Video Store. Then it was going to be an Italian Restaurant for a long time but that never happened. Then overnight, it was turned into a tribute to the Dianella Community. And, that’s only in the last five or so years. The space is now home to Curry Thieves, Dianella’s first Indian Restaurant and Take Away. And it snuck up on us.

A Passion for BBQ … Porkies BBQ in Bayswater had me at hello. The space is decorated with outdoor furniture, the napkins are red with white checks and the food is cooked on a BBQ. Seems like we’d accidentally stepped into someone’s backyard and they were cooking up some great smelling food.

To Lunch or Not To Lunch … That was the question we asked ourselves as we headed out to the Beaufort Street Café Strip. Just exactly what did we want to eat! We had too many choices and just couldn’t decide. When we spotted Hanami Japanese Restaurant that settled the problem. Japanese food it was to be.

Upmarket Indian … Used to frequent the Royal India quite often but a long time ago now. We decided a revisit was in order. I noticed that they offered a Thali lunch special, so the deal was done.

Authentic Malaysian Food … Was literally dragged along to Ria Malay Kitchen in Leederville the other day. Mainly because my friend decided I had to try the food. Love that there is a dragon that goes all the way along the roof.

Home style fare … Went to try Brick Lane’s lunch specials and discovered the restaurant empty. But we were soon joined by other people and the atmosphere improved. Our table looked out over the pavement to the bustle of Newcastle Street and Carr Place.
