Bakery and Butchery … Had heard good things about the Flour Factory so we decided to visit. Must say the building is really impressive and it is surrounded by impressive buildings. Queen Street architecture is actually really something. I haven’t walked down the street for a while and felt a renewed sense of old Perth.

New Venue … Xena and I were walking along Beaufort Street and discovered a new kid on the Block. Meatball Bar Leederville has a twin sister right on Beaufort Street.

Wide Open Space … Saturday lunch at the LKCH, had us sitting alone in a very large, very pleasant space. Industrial meets eastern funk.

Upmarket Indian … Used to frequent the Royal India quite often but a long time ago now. We decided a revisit was in order. I noticed that they offered a Thali lunch special, so the deal was done.

A Grand Old Dame … Rushed up Old Perth Road to meet a friend for a drink at the Bassendean Hotel. But I had to pause and take a moment to appreciate the grandeur of this classic old hotel. Oh, and take a photo, of course.

Happy Diner … The trick to getting a table for lunch at Jamie’s Italian is to be flexible. Best to roll up at opening time which is 11.30am on a weekday. There will probably be a line already but it will be short. Once the doors open staff are very efficient. You will be offered either a seat at the Bar, a table, or you will have a short wait in a queue.

Bohemian Hideaway … Walking back to our car down a Laneway in Northbridge we stumbled upon the Mechanics Institute Bar. A little excited we rushed up a flight of fire escape stairs. At the top we found a decked area overlooking Northbridge roof tops. There was also the brick building which incorporated the actual “Bar”.

Seafood Tortelloni / Pizza … It was a very hot Perth day when we arrived at the Brisbane Hotel for lunch. So we opted for an air conditioned table inside.

Revisit … Hadn’t been to the Oxford Hotel for a while, so a group of us descended on the place. We opted to sit inside in the air conditioning, which proved a wise choice on a hot Perth day.

Great food … On entering Lucioli you are confronted with an array of amazing looking sweet treats. This was a nice way to be introduced to their food with Rum Babas and Croissants. And, the fabulous Bar which takes centre stage in the main space.
