China’s Greatest Hits … BamBamBoo has been around for a while now. But that doesn’t make it any less twee or cute or cool. A Franchise offering the best of China by way of Yum Cha, Noodle Soups, BBQ and Chinese Teas.
Firstly, the venue. It’s origins are definitely old China with terracotta tiles, bags of rice and bamboo decorations. These mix pleasantly with modern seating and colourful chairs. Did I mention this place was cute.
Secondly, the iPad ordering system. It’s so techno hip it makes Mark Zuckerberg look old fashioned. Place your order via their great app with a very user oriented Interface. Enter your phone number and first name. Then go and pay. They will txt you when the food is ready. Such a comfortable and fairly fool proof system.
All the while staff hover to make sure you’re getting the service you require. The staff were very pleasant.
And, then there’s the food. We ordered the “Colour” dim sum plate, four different coloured steamed seafood / chicken buns.
A plate of the pan fried Chicken Buns (three pieces). And a plate of the Prawn Dumplings (four pieces).
And, a pot of Jasmine Tea. Great tasting tea and served in those cups that don’t hold the temperature. Great idea and no burnt fingers.
We were offered a bowl of Chicken and Corn soup at a discount because we had ordered three dishes. So we said okay and the total cost was $24.90 for the whole meal.
Overall we couldn’t fault the quality of the food. The steamed dumplings were well cooked and chewy, just as they should be. The pan fried buns were pretty special, very tasty. And, the soup was a generous size and flavoursome.
Yeah, we’ll be back, we have to try the noodle soups.
