Roc Candy, Piccadilly Arcade, 34 / 700 Hay Street, Perth WA 6000, Phone 9324 3060.
Candy Theatre … Roc Candy has been around a long time now. They’re located in Piccadilly Arcade, a lovely Art Deco Structure which was built in 1938.
Kinky Swell, U1 / 166 Brighton Road, Scarborough WA 6019, Phone 9245 2873.
Mixed feelings … The place has a nice atmosphere and the staff are great. We were greeted and seated, given menus, and there was help yourself water. The café is airy and a couple of hills away from Scarborough Beach. But there was salt in the air and that made for a nice atmosphere in itself.
Francoforte Spaghetti Bar, 4 / 189 William Street, Northbridge WA 6003, Phone 9227 9289.
Kale pesto … Finding Francoforte Spaghetti Bar is probably the hardest part about dining at this tiny little café. Hidden away in an Arcade off William Street in Northbridge, you’d be forgiven for getting lost. To be honest, I didn’t even know that the Arcade was there and must have walked past is for years.
Evropa Continental Deli, Shop 5, North Perth Plaza, Fitzgerald Street, North Perth WA 6006, Phone 9328 2784.
Time tested … North Perth shopping area isn’t very large but there are a number of shops that I visit there frequently. Like Istanbul Kitchen for their freshly made Turkish Bread and Hummus. And Evropa Continental Deli for their home style food.
Wrap N Rice Thai Cafe, 40 Angove Street, North Perth WA 6006, Phone 9227 6393.
Gado Gado Rice Paper Rolls … Picked up a pack of three Gado Gado rice paper rolls for $8.50. Sensational peanut sauce with tofu, egg and assorted vegetables. Above average and very delish.
Bob’s Bar, Print Hall, Brookfield Place, 125 St Georges Terrace, Perth Wa 6000, Phone 6282 0077.
Dumplings and Cava … What I like about Bob’s Bar most is that it’s named after Bob Hawke. Not because I’m a fan but because if ever there was a larrikin that deserved a bar named after him it’s BH. The walls are lined with quotes from the man himself. “Any boss who sacks anyone for not turning up today is a bum.” Etc.
