Spicy Hot Sambal … You Fill Up My Senses. There is nothing quite like Sambal, it’s sweet, it’s sticky, its delicious and so aromatic . It’s so delightful that two Perth restaurateurs now have two Restaurants dedicated to Sambal and Nasi Lemak.
Mamma Mia … Hiding away in the Old Morley Markets is a dazzling new Malaysian Cafe. The building is old and a little dowdy but there’s a light over by the Frankenstein place, oh, I mean the newly opened Mamak House.
It’s a Bar, It’s a Restaurant, It’s Gorgeous … It’s about time. Shunking Restaurant opened it’s doors this week at 1002 Beaufort Street in Bedford. This Asian Restaurant is absolutely beautiful, minimalist and the food is marvellous.
Just The Way You Are … Ria Malay Kitchen is a place that shouldn’t ever change. The Restaurant is beautiful with a charming décor inside and an al fresco outside on Oxford Street. All that and Lunch Specials.

It’s Not My Birthday … But it certainly felt like it. Was wandering around Coventry Village Markets when I stumbled across Master Chang’s Bakery. I had to blink a couple of times because I thought I was dreaming.
D’Big Mama, Malaysian Cafe, Coventry Village Markets, Morley WA 6062.
The Spice Exists on Only One Planet in the Universe … Phew, lucky we don’t live in that Universe. Dune quotes aside, spice is life for me. And, Laksa fulfils that need you sometimes get for a really big spicy soup. Laksa originated in Penang, the broth’s main ingredients are the pod like fruit tamarind and coconut.
Twilight Hawkers Market, Forrest Place, Perth WA 6000 – Friday Nights 4.30pm to 9.30pm – October 2015 through April 2016 Season.
Foodie Nirvana … The Twilight Hawkers Market in the City was the first market to catch my attention. I remember thinking that this was a huge thing. A collection of Food Trucks, Vans and Market Stalls all selling Street Food. Had I died and reached Nirvana? Well, not quite but almost.
Jessies Curry Kitchen and Cafe, 869 Beaufort Street, Inglewood, WA 6052, Phone: 9271 8528.
Fish Curry Addicts … We are regular diners at Jessie’s Curry Kitchen and Cafe. Why? Because the food is always spot on and it is very reasonably priced. Jessie herself, is a delight to deal with, as are her husband and sons.
