Don’t Think Twice … It’s alright, just go to LuLu La Delizia. This little Pasta and Wine Bar in Subiaco is run by former Lalla Rookh Chef Joel Valvasori.
It’s a quaint looking place with lace curtains and old fashioned fixtures. It’s quite charming but to be honest we would have sat on hay bales because we were there for the food.
Firstly, the wine list has had thought put into it and I was happy to see a selection of wines by the glass. Including my usual tipple Prosecco and a fine brand in San Martino.
The food choice was easy for Xena who opted for the Ricotta Gnocchi with Blue Swimmer Crab, Tomato, Chilli and Basil.
The plate was presented very well and the Gnocchi pieces were large and had a great soft texture. The Crab was blended with the Sauce and it was delightful. So well seasoned, such great flavours.
For me the choice was hard but the Spaghetti, Vongole (clams), Garlic, Chilli and White Wine Salsa was my final choice. This dish was beautifully presented as well and the combination of ingredients was awesome, especially the Garlic. The Spaghetti was al dente and perfect.
We had house made bread and vegetable sugo to start. The bread was crusty and crunchy and the sugo was lovely.
So, every element of our meal was stand out. We received complimentary Crisped Cheese with Mushroom Powder. The cheese had a sprinkling of orange zest, pretty sure, and the Mushroom Powder lifted the flavours to the next level.
Big Fan of the food. Huge.
