In A Silvertop To Your Door … Ah, would it be Melbourne without Paul Kelly? My trusty dining companion Xena was in the big M for a week and when she returned there were gifts. For me! All of which were so interesting we thought we’d share.

Kit Kat Chocolatory is first up and, yep, you read that correctly. There’s a whole shop dedicated to custom made Kit Kats at Melbourne Central in La Trobe Street. And, they’re awesome.

The Kit Kats look normal on the top side but underneath they are filled with your selection of ingredients. Xena picked Pistachio and Raspberry for my treat. This Kit Kat was absolute top drawer and so scrummy.

Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts travelled in a big box, as Xena has purchased half a dozen. These tarts look a bit like the Portuguese variety but they taste really cheesy and delicious. Best of all you can freeze them and they taste even better. Hokkaido is located in Melbourne Central.

Haigh’s Chocolate Est 1915 still make their chocolate the same way. Xena’s gift of a bag full of chocolate covered goodies was pretty special. The cashews were salted and the square ones had an apricot centre. Plus there were also chocolate covered almonds, hazelnuts, sultanas and raisins. Big fan, huge.

Lindt Café have a chocolate recipe that dates back to 1845. And, this Cafe is also in the CBD. Xena knows me well and the Lindt gift was a rather large hazelnut (noisette) milk chocolate. Just lovely.

The good news is that Perth is getting an Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts Café soon. I’m guessing the other Cafes won’t be far behind.
