Where The Rain Can’t Get In … Dejaxo Artisan Bakery Café opened their doors recently in Mount Hawthorn. I went to visit them two days in a row because the summer storms spoilt the first visit.
It’s a cool place, which is quite large and used to be a corner deli but now is sophisticated and a little funky.
So, there are baked goods everywhere and the aromas are amazing. Honestly, there were rows of Bread, cabinets with just cakes, cabinets with just pastries, cabinets with just Pies. Amazing.
My favourite part was discovering that they bake a large selection of Pies. It’s been a long time since a new Pie shop opened.
This visit I dined in because it was still raining.
Ordered two Prawn Sliders and was delighted with the ciabatta buns which were chewy and dusted with semolina. But the star was definitely the prawns, Wok tossed in Chilli and dressed with Aioli and a few greens plus bonus hand cut chips. Yum.
So, they serve great coffee and it’s worth a visit just for a java fix but be aware that on the dessert side of things you may not be able to pick just one.
