It Feels Like Home To Me … Ah, fond memories of The Queens Tavern from way back. Hadn’t visited in a long while and Easter Sunday saw us heading to Highgate. Did I mention the all day $10.00 cocktails?

Easter weekend in Perth (for those that stayed at home) proved to be a very social weekend. Good Friday saw a few Pop Up Food Truck events and a small selection of our favourite Hotels and Restaurants were open as well. Good times.

But, I digress, back to The Queens Hotel.  So, the Queens has always had great atmosphere and Sunday proved no exception. There were smiles and sunshine and excellent food.

The food side of things surprised me as I’d always found their food to be just Pub Grub. This visit had me rethinking my opinion as there was a great choice of food and some of it was way outside the Pub Grub memes of Fish and Chips and Guinness Pie.

But first those $10 cocktails which had Xena all excited. Mojitos and (Frozen Rose) Frose were on the menu and the Frose won out. For me it was a glass of Prosecco, no surprise there.

Food wise Xena chose the Haloumi Burger and we were both surprised to see it arrive in a Flamingo Pink brioche bun. Stunning presentation and a very large Burger with loads of grilled cheese, mashed chickpeas and salad. Delicious.

My choice of Fish Tacos was brilliant. Three grilled fish tacos on a bed of finely chopped slaw with a fabulous Jalapeño Mint dressing and Lime Aioli. A very healthy plate of food and so moorish.

So, we enjoyed a great foodie experience and a reminder that things can change.
