The More You Ignore Me … Mid Century Cafe and Collectables is a remarkable concept. They had me at hello. The place is jam packed with 50’s and 60’s Retro Furniture and Kitsch. You’ll be oohing and ahhing at the Vinyl Records and Liquor Cabinets in no time.
Absolutely love that the seating for this café is the furniture that is also for sale. It’s a brain wave of an idea. Right down to the 50’s top of the pops playing overhead, which had me bopping (mentally) along to Louis Prima’s Just a Gigolo.
I was dining alone and found an area at the back of the café that had a large book shelf and banquet seating. The only trouble was that I was immediately invisible. Staff just kind of ignored me. It wasn’t really a problem, though water would have been nice.
Received my cappuccino pretty promptly and it was a really good cup of coffee. So pleased because I was feeling a little unloved.
Asked the waiter for water, which arrived with ice. Feeling much better by this time. And, then the eggs arrived. Busy café so completely understand the wait for food. And, these eggs were worth the wait.
Perfectly poached and pretty perky actually. Admirable ability to create uniform eggs like these. Sitting on a small bed of spinach and accompanied by two pieces of wholemeal sourdough.
My smile broadened as I began eating. These were pretty good eggs. So good I had to take another photo to show off the yellow of the yolk.
Recently had a similar breakfast at a very posh café and it wasn’t anywhere near as good as this.
Kudos. Will drag Xena back to sample your waffles.
