Revisit … It’s been a long time since we first visited the Old Laundry Bar Eatery. The place still looks amazing and we noticed that little things had changed for the better. We also noticed that Angove Street was a little quiet this Mother’s Day Sunday. What’s that about?
We had been looking forward to this meal all week. It was exciting because we had enjoyed our first experience so much.
The food menu had a few choice options. Xena opted for the Fish of the Day, while for me it was the Japanese Fried Chicken dish.
Also noticed that they had Bandini Prosecco (Italy) on the wine list, so a glass was quickly ordered. Xena opted for an Amaretto Sour. Big fan of Whiskey Sours so was curious and had a sip. Wow, exceptional cocktail and the flavour mix was perfect.
The food, when it arrived, looked amazing. Xena’s Fish had a Porcini Puree and Fennel Sauce. The Fennel tasted great and I’m not usually a fan of this vegetable. The fish was flaky and white, while the mushrooms added an earthy taste. A great dish.
My Japanese Fried Chicken came with Pickled Daikon, Wasabi Mayo and Black Sesame seeds. And, some bonus ginger. The chicken was really tender and the rest of the ingredients made for an interesting dish. Loved it.
Xena ordered sweets and I ordered a double espresso.
The Chocolate Marquise with Chocolate Sorbet and Marshmallows was amazing. Hadn’t had a Marquise before but it was like a really rich mousse with a denser texture. They had added strawberries, a nice touch.
My espresso rounded off my meal perfectly. Faultless coffee.
Decided not to review the service. It seemed they were having a bad day.
