Chicken and Mushroom Pie … Bit of a sucker for a chicken pie and had been told to visit The Pearl. So, being in Highgate, we decided to stop and try their wares.
Picked up a Chicken and Mushroom Pie, an Orange and Almond Cupcake and a Chocolate Croissant.
The first thing you notice on entering The Pearl of Highgate is the smell of pies cooking and the first thing you see is the big commercial oven full of pies. A very nice welcome.
So, lets talk food. Firstly the Chicken and Mushroom Pie. Chicken breast pieces in the best mushroom sauce I’ve had in a pie and topped off with flaky puff pastry on the top and bottom. Very light, very moorish.
The Chocolate Croissant was flaky and the chocolate itself was dense and thick, memorable.
Stand out Orange and Almond Cupcake, so moist and delicious. Yum. They have a great looking display cabinet full of baked goodies and bread for sale as well.
This is a small bakery on Lincoln Street, they only accept cash sales and it’s takeaway only. But as it’s only a very short walk to Hyde Park, which is a lovely place to sit and eat, that’s not a problem.
